Lake Geneva Wedding at Lake Lawn Resort

I’ll never say no to a Lake Geneva wedding! The views are so pretty, and the pace always feels a little more relaxed than a city wedding. As a photographer, I love working here. The fellow vendors are (usually!) wonderful to collaborate with, and there are fewer “rules” than you’ll run into photographing in Chicago.

September is such an amazing month for a wedding. The hot summer temps have passed, the cool fall air hasn’t quite arrived, and the summer flowers are still in full bloom – truly the best of both seasons. Leanne & Dylan planned their entire day lakeside at Lake Lawn Resort, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From their first look and portraits to their ceremony and cocktail hour, everything was framed by the lush green canopy of trees and sparkling water. The weather was incredible, warm with just the right amount of breeze.

One of my favorite details of the day was the hydrangeas that line the ceremony aisle at Lake Lawn Resort. They were full and vibrant and added such a romantic, natural touch to the setting.

Leanne’s long veil deserves its own moment. It truly was picture-perfect. Long veils are so much fun for photos and create the most beautiful, dramatic portraits. If you’re on the fence about veil length, go long. Promise you’ll thank me later!

Of course, one of the very best parts of the day was slipping away to the dock at sunset for portraits. The light was absolutely magical – warm, soft, and golden, just how every photographer dreams it will be.
