We celebrated Ava’s senior year on a beautiful early fall evening in the west suburbs, and it could not have been more perfect. From charming downtown streets to glowing sunset fields, her session was filled with variety, warmth, and so much natural beauty!
When clients ask for location suggestions for senior portraits, my number one recommendation is almost always an urban area. In a short walk, we can use the environment around us to capture so many different looks. It is such an easy way to create a gallery with a ton of variety while keeping the session relaxed and fun.
One of my absolute favorite locations in the west suburbs is downtown Geneva. I love the charm and character it offers at every turn. The historic brick walls always remind me of Charleston, and they create the most timeless backdrop for portraits. Add in ivy covered walls, cute picket fences, and a mix of stairs, benches, and steps in different colors and textures, and there are truly endless opportunities. I just love downtown Geneva senior photos!
Downtown Geneva is beautiful in every season. In the spring, blooming trees line the quiet streets. In the summer, the hydrangeas at River Park are beautiful. Then in the fall, jewel toned florals fill the flower boxes and the trees begin to turn. I especially love how the fall season adds such rich color and warmth to every image.
For Ava’s session, we also included a second location just minutes away at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve. This is one of my favorite spots to complement an urban session with a more natural setting. The open fields, tall grasses, and walking paths create the perfect contrast to downtown. We timed it just perfectly for golden hour. The sunset light gave us that soft, glowing finish that every senior loves!
Ava was an absolute joy to photograph. She brought such a calm confidence to her session, and her gallery reflects a beautiful mix of her personality, and this exciting season in her life!
I photograph senior portraits throughout Geneva, St. Charles, and the surrounding west suburbs. I have loved working with students from Geneva High School, Kaneland High School, Batavia High School, St. Charles North High School, St. Charles East High School, West Aurora High School, and Yorkville High School.
If you are planning your senior portraits, I’d love to help you plan a senior session that feels completely you!
