Geneva, Illinois offers so many amazing locations for senior portraits! Abby’s senior session is the perfect example of how much variety we can capture in one evening. One of my biggest goals during every senior session is to create a gallery that feels unique with a mix of urban charm, green space, and lots of variety in posing and perspective.
I am always looking for locations with depth and character. Steps, stairs, benches, curbs, pathways, and textured backgrounds all help us naturally mix standing and sitting poses while creating images that feel relaxed and effortless.
We started Abby’s senior session at Fabyan Forest Preserve (one of my favorite west suburban locations for natural scenery). Fabyan is beautiful throughout the year, but especially in late summer and fall when the gardens and trees are full of color. The iconic pathways, river views, and soft greenery make it such a versatile spot for portraits.
From there, we headed to downtown Aurora for a completely different look! I love incorporating urban locations into senior sessions because in just a short walk, we can capture so much variety. Downtown Aurora offers a beautiful blend of architecture, texture, city energy, and seasonal flowers that always photograph beautifully.
We ended the evening at River Park in Geneva, which has the most amazing hydrangeas in late summer. The flowers, river views, and soft evening light created the perfect backdrop to wrap up Abby’s session. And of course, chasing the sunset along the river was one of my favorite parts of our evening together!
I accept reservations for senior portraits throughout the entire year, but most seniors start planning in late spring and early summer for the upcoming senior class. August and September dates, especially Sundays, tend to fill very quickly, so I always recommend reaching out as soon as possible!
I usually begin photographing seniors in late July or early August, and weather permitting, we can continue sessions through early or mid November.
If you are hoping to wear a cute dress, short sleeves, shorts, or other summer inspired outfits, I recommend scheduling your session in August or September. October can still be beautiful, but Midwest weather can be unpredictable.
Geneva is such a wonderful location for senior portraits, but it is just one of many beautiful options in the west suburbs. You can see more of my favorite summer and fall senior portrait locations here:
No matter what style or vibe you are envisioning for your senior portraits, I would love to help guide you toward locations that feel like the perfect fit for you!
